CULT Co. – Cabernet Sauvignon; Lodi, California 2020

Lodi is situated directly east of the largest gap in California’s coast ranges – the San Francisco bay – Lodi experiences a Mediterranean climate. During the growing season, warm, sunny days allow for optimal ripening of wine grapes. By contrast, cool winds off the Pacific Ocean which travel inland over a network of waterways act as a natural air conditioner for the region, helping wine grapes maintain racy acidity.

Winemaker Rich Salvestrin has the chops to make 98-point Napa Cabs. The most recent top bottle from his eponymous Salvestrin winery earned those coveted points from no less than Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. The Cult Wine Co. is a separate project from Salvestrin, a project committed to producing great wine.

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sees 15 months in barrels comprising 25% new French oak. It produces classic Cabernet aromas of bright black cherry and raspberry abound. It’s smooth and silky with ripe mid-palate and powdery tannins. Black cherry and raspberry aromas form the bright red fruit profile on this classic Cabernet. Smooth and silky in texture, with a fruity mid-palate with hints of nutmeg and coffee, and firm tannins. A long and persistent finish.
