Il Vulcano Imperiale – Rosso 2020

 December 1, 2021

The structure and richness of Aglianico make it a popular grape for blending in southern Italy but this bottling is 100% Aglianico. Aglianico has been referred to as “Nebbiolo of the south”. A whole cluster fermentation softens the tannins and makes the fruit come on strong with a beautiful color. These grapes are harvested in the 1st week of November which seems late but is still some weeks before the Aglianico grapes used to create the famous Taurasi wines. These grapes are sourced from Primo Aglianico Vineyards. This is a celebratory style of Aglianico, super fresh with loads of briary fruit compote on the nose that delivers right to the palate, has a ton of mass appeal.

Enjoy with chicken and spinach in a smoky paprika sauce, barbecued lamb, and other gamey dishes.
