Haut Brion ‘Clarendelle’ – Bordeaux Blend – Red Selection 

In 1934, Mr. Clarence Dillon, a prominent American financier, visited Bordeaux and in 1935, acquired the property. In 1983, the Dillon family also acquired the neighboring estate, Château La Mission Haut-Brion. And since 2011, the family company has owned a Saint-Emilion grand cru, Château Quintus.

In 2005, seventy years after the arrival of Clarence Dillon in Bordeaux, his great-grandson, Prince Robert of Luxembourg, opened a new chapter in the history of the Dillon family in Bordeaux, by creating Clarence Dillon Wines. Clarence Dillon Wines manages the production and marketing of the first Premium brand of Bordeaux wines: “Clarendelle”.

In 2015 a rather unusual climatology allowed the birth of a vintage of very high quality. Spring was warm with uniform flowering, followed by even hotter months of June and July, favoring the radical growth of the vines. It is certain that the water reserves largely accumulated during the rainy winter clearly contributed to this growth. The months of August and September, more temperate, were favorable to a beautiful maturity and a refined aromatic expression, without too much sun. The autumn conditions were ideal to refine the tannins of the skins, and thus allow rather late harvests on high quality grapes. This vintage is made up of 83% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 7% Cabernet Franc

The wines have a deep garnet red color and excellent balance. They present themselves with a moderate but nevertheless emphasized acidity. On the palate, notes of ripe, round and crunchy red fruits become clearer, as well as a spicy hint of liquorice. The tannins are velvety and polished. The length on the palate fills the palate with a dense and fresh finish.
